A Few More Pictures

my computer is still not real keen on the whole uploading-pictures-thing, so this might be brief.  i'll do my best.

this is the staircase from our hotel in paris.  we were only there two nights for nuit blanche, but it was a really cool old building that had been revamped/had the interior redesigned in a fun way.

here are some of the folks from the outside of the duomo in florence:

this is some green we passed on our trek up the hill to michelangelo's spot

here is a view from michelangelo's square. as i mentioned, the picture's not great, but you get an idea.  that's the duomo on the right.

this is the view from our apartment here in rome.  and yes, that is the colosseum.  how awesome is my life right now?  i can see the colosseum FROM MY WINDOW.  that's how awesome.

this is actually a sculpture of st. francis.  these dudes are behind him looking really upset.  since i have no idea how to translate the inscription, i'm gonna just assume they're upset because they're franciscan monks and are probably really hungry and cold and dirty and wearing hairshirts, and francis is probably singing some song about how awesome poverty is and what a blessing this billion-mile-walk to rome has been, and how good the sun feels or something... again - just a guess.

thought i'd close out with some cool old-ruin-y-lookin' stuff.

  1. some very nice pictures but i am more curious about the historical significance of the item in picture #1 of the stairwell which was not commented on.. perhaps you can do some research and let us know about the stunning painted toe nails that appear in the picture?

    sending much love
